Geocentric Information Systems has completed a business directory for the Oranje-kloof CID. Geocentric was commissioned to survey all the businesses in the CID boundary.

Businesses were surveyed using a set questionnaire. The geographic location of each business was also recorded. The result of this effort is a business directory that will be accessible on the OK CID website so that people can use the site to search, find and support businesses in the area. The directory is further supported with a map link giving business searchers a link to a Google Maps page showing the location of the businesses. This adds further benefit for users and businesses. The directory is available on the OK CID website.

Geocentric Information Systems is positioned to do similar projects for other business areas. Feel free to contact us should you be interested in similar surveys for your area.

Gene Lohrentz of Geocentric has been involved with the establishment process of the Groote Schuur Community Improvement District since 2009. Working with the University of Cape Town, Geocentric was initially tasked to develop the property demographics of the area in support of the design of the improvement district. Geocentric played a pivotal role in the modelling of various boundary scenarios and supported the decision process with various valuation models for the proposed area.

Geocentric developed property specific maps and CID vote support forms for every property and made these available to property owners at the public meetings as well as through postal canvassing. Geocentric was then tasked to manage the voting process and secure the 50%-plus-one votes (legally required for the establishment of a CID) for the entire area.

Geocentric played a key role in the establishment of the GSCID which started it’s operations on the 1st of September 2010.
Geocentric will be involved in the future management of the various information systems for the GSCID.
