Geocentric develops website for Airport Industria CID

Geocentric recently developed the website for the Airport CID. The website provides useful information about  the Airport Industria CID and features information on existing business plans, monthly activities and various other sources of information useful to members and property owners

Philippi East City Improvement District

Geocentric has been appointed to assist the Philippi East City Improvement District initiative.  The initiative which is also supported by Philippi Economic Development Initiative (PEDI) aims to establish a SRA for the Philippi East Industrial area by 1 July 2013.  Geocentric already completed the initial Perception Survey in November and December 2011.  For more information please contact Gene Lohrentz – gene@geocentric.co.za

Introducing cityimprovement.co.za

Gene Lohrentz of Geocentric Information Systems has been working with city improvement district initiatives since 2000. Geocentric provides a wide range of services to city improvement districts including but not limited to assistance with the establishment of CIDs, the setup of management systems, the development of measurable objectives and support on information technology.

Now Geocentric has established a new website aiming at providing a concise on-point location for more information on CIDs and Special Rating Areas (SRAs). Geocentric will list and support any new SRA initiative and list it here so that there is a web presence for these initiatives right from the start. Kenilworth Glosderry CID

Geocentric supported the establishment process of the
Kenilworth Glosderry CID initiative in 2011 with a photographic urban management survey, property database analysis and the development of the initial business plan.  The project was initiated by Presles, a major property owner in the area.  It is envisaged that the application for the establishment of this SRA will be lodged in 2012.

Geocentric drives Voortrekker Road Corridor Improvement District (VRCID)

Property owners, residents and community members identified serious problems along and adjacent to Voortrekker Road through Parow and Bellville.   Collectively the issues of crime and grime, homelessness, aggressive begging, informal car guards, prostitution and drug dealing are all escalating alarmingly.  Radio Tygerberg supported by the Bellville Sakekamer has taken the initiative to seek solutions to these problems and subsequently appointed Geocentric to manage and support the entire VRCID SRA process.  Geocentric developed the entire business process and the application for the establishment of the VRCID.  The VRCID implementation is scheduled for 1 July 2012.

Geocentric helps to establish GSCID

Gene Lohrentz of Geocentric has been involved with the establishment process of the Groote Schuur Community Improvement District since 2009. Working with the University of Cape Town, Geocentric was initially tasked to develop the property demographics of the area in support of the design of the improvement district. Geocentric played a pivotal role in the modelling of various boundary scenarios and supported the decision process with various valuation models for the proposed area.

Geocentric developed property specific maps and CID vote support forms for every property and made these available to property owners at the public meetings as well as through postal canvassing. Geocentric was then tasked to manage the voting process and secure the 50%-plus-one votes (legally required for the establishment of a CID) for the entire area.

Geocentric played a key role in the establishment of the GSCID which started it’s operations on the 1st of September 2010.
Geocentric will be involved in the future management of the various information systems for the GSCID.
